The project aims to improve employability in the sector by developing strategies for digitalization, green technologies, education and training. The project, which is financed by the European Commission with \u20ac4m, is participated by universities, technological centers and companies in Spain, Ireland, Portugal, the UK, Belgium, Holland, Italy and Greece.<\/p>\n

The objective of the R&D MATES project (Maritime Alliance for fostering the European Blue Economy through a Marine Technology Skilling Strategy) is to improve employability in the marine sector by developing strategic skills in the area of digitalization, training and environmental sustainability. The main objective is to bring together the needs of the industry and educational and training systems so that labour market in the marine sector can better adapt to the changes and challenges present in the sector. As a result of this, the training strategies obtained from the project will be useful in the naval sector as well as in offshore renewable energy and also for manufacturing.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>MATES project<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>is backed by a European network of universities, companies and institutions from eight countries (Spain, Ireland, Portugal, the UK, Belgium, Holland, Italy and Greece) which will place special emphasis on strategies of digitalization, green technologies (especially in the circular economy) and education about the oceans as much on the social as on the business level. Furthermore strategies on management and methods of innovation will also be developed.<\/p>\n

CT\u2019s participation is in the naval construction sector and aims to present strategies and training programs by means of the use of virtual reality tools. Virtual reality allows simulation of work areas and speeds up processes and techniques to train people in complex industrial settings. Therefore, both students and instructors can train using methodologies and procedures or try out real future situations.<\/p>\n

MATES (Maritime Alliance for fostering the European Blue Economy through a Marine Technology Skilling Strategy) is a four-year project (2018-2021) and financed by the European commission through the Erasmus+ program with a budget of \u20ac4m. The project is being coordinated by the Technological Centre for the Sea (Fundaci\u00f3n CETMAR) and is formed by the following members:<\/p>\n

The University of A Coru\u00f1a, the Department of Culture, Education and University Administration of the Xunta, ASIME, CT Ingenieros, Aqualex Multimedia Consortium, AquaTT, Forum Oceano, Associa\u00e7ao da Economia do Mar, Fundo Regional para Ciencia e Tecnologia (FCRT), Aquatera, the University of Strathclyde, Ghent University, the University of Amsterdam, EGEMT, COSNAV Engineering, Indigo-Med, the Centre for Research and Technology (CERTH).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
